Spring Cross Country

On Wednesday 25th February Mrs Reynolds and Mrs Falle took 4 school teams (22 runners) up to Les Quennevais to compete in the Inter Schools Cross Country Competition.

The conditions were good on the day; although a little slippery and muddy underfoot due to rain from the previous days.

The form 3 girls ran first and put in an excellent team performance with all 5 runners coming in the top 49 out of 159 competitors.  Julia Allen was the first girl home for St Michael’s with Maddie Reynolds and Matilda Ward closely behind.  Overall the team came 4th out of 21 schools - excellent!

Second to run were the form 3 boys.  They got off to a quick start with Archie Rankin leading the way for St Michael’s, closely followed by Tom Moore and James Lewis.  The boys tried their very best, with the team coming 11th out of 23 schools.  Well done.

Form 4 girls were next to race with the course becoming a little more muddy and slippery as the event went on.  They did themselves proud with a great team effort, taking 4th place overall out of 14 schools.  Emily Le Marquand came through in 16th place with Dominique Brunwin and Sienna Sutton closely behind her.

Finally, it was the turn of Form 4 boys.  There was a little nervousness amongst the team but they soon settled as they began their race.  Harvey Bracken Smith was the first boy home coming in 18th place out of 154 runners with the team being placed 9th overall out of 22 schools.

Congratulations to all of the team members who put in their very best effort on the day and were a credit to the school.
