Potential Plus - Creative Maths Workshop
Our Potential Plus Students and Students in Years 6, 7 and 8 enjoyed a Creative Maths Workshop on Tuesday.
The Potential Plus Students, experienced the "Bunker", which is based on cryptology – the writing and reading of codes. Working in teams students needed to identify as closely as possible the location of a Suspicious Device by cracking a series of increasingly fiendish numeric, geometric and semiotic ciphers. The more codes they crack, the more precisely they pin the Device down.
The Year 6, 7's and 8's experienced the "Trading" Game, which involved small sided teams, trading shapes, scissors, paper and pencils in order to produce perfectly cut out shapes that they would sell to the banker for points. All groups had incomplete packs and had to use trading skills to acquire the correct equipment to produce the shapes to sell. The classroom was electric with interaction and all students enjoyed the experience.
