De Putron Challenge

On Monday 10 November St. Michael's entered a Year 6 and a Year 8 team into the De Putron Challenge, an island wide general knowledge quiz for schools.

In the year 6 event, there were 12 primary schools. These were divided into two heats. St. Michael’s school was in the second heat.  We performed very well and qualified for the final. There were four schools in the final, and going into the last round of questions Victoria College and St. Michael’s were neck and neck on 19 points each. The last round saw Victoria College pull ahead making them eventual winners with St. Michael’s coming a close second place.

In the year 8 event, there were 9 teams and once again St. Michael’s was in the second heat.  We won our heat and secured a place in the final. The final was nail bitingly close between the top two teams, Beaulieu and St. Michael’s.  The result all rested on the last question which unfortunately went to Beaulieu, meaning that they snatched victory by just one point.

It was a fabulous day with a tremendous effort from both St.Michael’s teams.
