As you may be aware, this Christmas we are supporting three charities in their endeavours to help local people. This morning we were lucky enough to be visited by our third and final charity, Make a Wish Jersey, to see how the money we raise through our Christmas Sale would go to helping terminally ill children in our community.

This morning staff and pupils were visited by a representative from Make a Wish Jersey to talk to us about a very special child who needed our help this Christmas.

Make A Wish Jersey aims to make the dreams of terminally ill children come true, providing themselves and their family with a once in a lifetime experience that gives them respite from the ongoing stress of doctor’s appointments and hospital treatments. This experience is all about making memories, allowing families to feel almost normal again and giving them something to look forward to.

This year Make a Wish is looking to fulfil a critically ill child’s wish. Because of the realities of such horrible illnesses Make A Wish wanted our help to give one child an experience that both themselves and their family can look forward to. Especially through long hospital stays and time away from their family and friends.

Christmas is a magical time for any child, so it’s not surprising that when asked what one ill Jersey child would want to do this time of year, they replied that they wanted to meet Father Christmas in Lapland! Make A Wish, therefore, wanted to give this child and their family the most magical Christmas experience, and thus are raising money to help fly them to Lapland to experience fresh snow, husky rides and real reindeers.

Both staff and pupils were incredibly moved by such a young child’s experiences and story. We are very keen therefore to help Make a Wish Jersey on their mission to ensure the wish to experience the true magic of Christmas was granted!Last year we raised a staggering £23,000 for local charities – CLIC Sargent, Diabetes Jersey and Robin Ward Jersey. So, this year we’re hoping to raise even more with your help!
