InterHouse Cross Country
Honours shared in the 2015 St. Michael’s Inter House Cross Country
Luke and John House shared the spoils in the 2015 Intermediate and Senior team events in the Inter House Mixed Competition over a newly designed cross country course consisting of jumps and varied terrain.
Individual Competitions were keenly contested in both the Intermediate ( Form 3 and 4 (Years 5 and 6)) and Senior (Forms 5 and 6 (Years 7 and 8))events. Trophies were shared amongst three of the four Houses. This reflected some excellent individual performances and several personal bests from proud competitors of all abilities.
The Intermediate boys race was won by Harvey Bracken-Smith of Luke House in a blistering 5 minutes and 10 seconds. Emily Le Marquand of John house held off a challenge from Maddie Reynolds of Mark, to take the title of first Intermediate Girl in a swift time of 5 minutes 57 seconds. Luke also took the Intermediate team event. This was just reward for several gutsy personal performances that ensured a narrow win over a hard chasing John house.
The first Senior girl home was Emily Wilson (Luke House ), finishing with an impressive winning time of 8 minutes 34 seconds. Charlie Bird (Mark House) showed remarkable sportsmanship for a boy of his age, stopping to check if a fellow competitor was fit and well, before ensuring he was the first Senior Boy past the finishing tape in a nippy 7 minutes and 19 seconds.
The team competition at Senior level was a reverse of the top two placings in the intermediate event with John edging out Luke to claim the Senior Mixed title.
